The front gate entrance to Union Ridge Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois

FAQ

  • Being a nonprofit means that Union Ridge Cemetery operates as a 501(c)(13) organization, meaning all income goes directly toward maintaining and improving the cemetery rather than generating profit. We have one paid employee, our groundskeeper, and the entire cemetery is managed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. These board members receive no compensation and dedicate their time to ensuring the cemetery’s preservation, operations, and historical integrity. Donations and purchases support the cemetery’s upkeep and mission, benefiting the community and honoring its rich history.

  • Union Ridge Cemetery welcomes individuals of all faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds. As a non-denominational cemetery, we are committed to providing a respectful and inclusive resting place for everyone, honoring the diverse traditions and values of our community.

  • We open every day at 7am and close at sunset, seven days a week, including holidays.

On days of heavy snow you can expect the gates to be closed with further instructions posted on a sign.

  • Note: Cemetery records regarding Ancestry and/or Genealogy will only be released to appropriate individuals seeking information for nonprofit research purposes only. A donation to the cemetery is encouraged to cover the cost of the related office work.
